Summary: | Zwart-witfoto van een filmvertoning door de Britten in Duitsland over de gruwelijkheden in de concentratiekampen van Belsen en Buchenwald, na afloop van de Tweede Wereldoorlog, 12 juni 1945. Opschrift achteraan: "Village of hate sees concentration camp films. The German village of Burgsteinfurt has been referred as the "village of hate" in the B.L.A. Magazine "The Soldier" because of its silent but noticeable resentment of British occupation. The Military Government authorities, however, have decided that Burgsteinfurt must learn its lesson, so on the week beginning 29th May No.36.A.N.S. Garrison Cinema were given the Belsen and Buchenwald horror films to show the townspeople. At first the support to films were negligible so on 30th May the citizens were "ordered" to attend showings of the films and 4.000 of them were ... and marched to the cinema, led by the Burgomaster and captain A. Stirling, the District Assistant Provost Marshall. Picture shows: The German audience see the irrefutable evidence." |
