Sumario:Wijziging ondertitel: (1980) Paper of Peoples Democracy Voortzetting van: The Plough en Unfree Citizen Eerste nr.: feb 1978: "This is the first issue of Socialist Republic the joint newspaper of People's Democracy (P.D.) and the Movement for a Socialist Republic (MSR). Over the past number of years both PD and MSR have produced separate party newspapers each of which has played an important role in the struggle of the Irish Working Class. The PD newspaper was called "Unfree Citizen" (member of PD, 01(1978),01) / "The first issue of Socialist Republic was produced in 1971 by the Dublin Regional Council of the Young Socialists. It was brought out in opposition to the national committee of the YS which held a "two nations" position and refused to support the fight for national unity and independance. Subsequently (in january 1972) the Dublin Regional Committee lead a majority out of the UYS to form what is now the Movement for a Socialist Republic. Socialist Republic became the official paper of the new organisation" (member of MSR, 01(1978),01) Administratie: Clanawley Road 38, Dublin (MSR) / Connolly Bookshop, Avoca Pk.
