Essen, Germany: A turning-lathe which is in use at the Krupp works here, part of which is now engaged in the production of locomotives and turbines. This once-famous steel concern which is covered in the recent announcement that demilitarisation demolitions in the British zone are to cease, still has its large plant intact, and it is here that work is now going on. The Rhinemetal Borsig plant at Dusseldorf which one produced shells and cannon has also been partly given-over to peace-time work. Part of the factory has been rebuilt for the purpose of producing cars and the manufacture of textiles." |
